We started to cry as the credits faded
Blurring the names out of focus
We stayed to the end, ’til the music died
Then we trudged out in silence
There is no reason but profit and gain
Childhood visions go up in flames
No-one arrives and now we leave
I heard a rumour that they’re burning it to the ground

One more day ’til they start a fire
Boiling reels and melting screens
No more sequels in their eyes
But DVDs are not the same
Is this even real? Do we have a choice?
How would we ever get to see
Lord of the Rings, or Avatar in miraculous 3D?

The recession is a myth they control
Don’t take the culture from this place I call home
We sit around waiting passive for a sequel
But there’s no light, there’s no sound
Still we’re starting at the screen
It survives for now but it’s just a matter of time
Don’t push me closer to the end of the line
